Summary
A master’s degree in Social and Solidary Economy (MSSE) offers a valuable alternative perspective by promoting economic models that consider social and environmental issues and that put people, communities and local territories at the center. The MSSE proposed will aim to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to design and implement innovative solutions to the most pressing social and economic challenges of today, and to foster a new generation of social and solidarity economy practitioners and leaders. The different partners of this program will make it unique, by ensuring the resources of three universities and the two international non-governmental organizations are used in a complementary way to develop good quality contents and regular relation with field experts and futures employers.
Globally, SSE is estimated to provide 6.9 million jobs (Unrisd, 2014). In the European Union alone, 2 million social economy organizations employ 11 million people (6% of workers). In the early 2021s, SSE has gained visibility, including within the European commission which adopted a new action plan proposing concrete measures to help mobilize the full potential of the social economy
